How To Receive Compensation When Your Flight is Delayed or Cancelled
Isn’t it the worst? … You just want to be there all ready…
Having a delay in your travel plans can really but a damper on things, and financially cause stress too.
That’s why I want to share with you HOW I was able to claim all expenses we encountered during our flight to Hawaii mishap..
From food, transport and overnight hotel in San Francisco… Here’s a very easy to follow guide on how you can be reimbursed.
BACKSTORY…
United Airlines offered zip, nada, no bueno… when it came to compensating us besides a shocking $30 credit in Food Voucher…. Claiming that they weren’t responsible for the delay ‘due to air control’ …
so we were off to fend for ourselves and spend an unexpected night in San Fran…. UGH.
HOW I WAS ABLE TO GET AROUND THIS…
I remembered my audience telling me on Instagram after I broke my leg in Cambodia about Visa’s built in “insurance policy” on plenty of their cards.
So… I called up Royal Bank Canada (my visa company) and asked!
SURE ENOUGH… my Visa policy covered me up to $250/day in expenses due to flight delays!
All I needed was to keep my receipts, and go to United Airlines Customer Service desk (located in the airport) requesting a verification slip which stated yes indeed, my flight was delayed.
NOTE: For this to work you MUST have paid for the flights with the same visa card you are trying to claim expenses under.
SIMPLY…
Call up your visa provider tell them your situation, and ask what your policy covers, if it’s a yes, you’ll be sent an email with instructions on how to fill your claim once you’re home.
I claimed up to $300 USD.. This is money, I otherwise would’ve paid OUT OF POCKET for.
I know there’s other routes of contacting loyalty department at Airline companies after the fact, stating your case but, this is one quick way to make sure you get your money back sooner and hassle-free.
Here’s the policy for the credit card I have, I would recommend this credit card to anyone in Canada that loves to travel. Visa Infinite Avion The rewards points are fantastic too.
