The top experiences in the Greek islands

I've been fantasizing about traveling to Greece since I was 12 years old,  after watching The Sisterhood of the traveling pants. (Anyone else who's seen this movie knows exactly what I'm referring to!) A summer romance that takes place in Santorini, what teenage girl's dreams are made of... Greece is undoubtedly one of the Mediterranean's best assets with over 230 inhabited islands, the paradise-like options for fabulous vacation destinations are... endless!!😍

I've been to the following 6 popular islands; Santorini, Ios, Mykonos, Milos, Zakynthos and Crete. ALL were incredible, however some moments just can't be missed. These are my TOP unforgettable experiences that will make your trip to Greece one for the books.

1.  roam the pictureque Village of Oia, Santorini

Commonly known for being the best sunset destination in Europe, the village of Oia on the island of Santorini is heavenly.  I recommend getting a spot on a roof top terrace overlooking Oia as the sun sets in front of you 😍 Oia Gefsis  is where I watched the sunset from, the view and food will make for a fairytale ending to a night in Greece!

2.  Visit the iconic Navaigo Shipwreck, Zakynthos

One of the most photographed beaches in the world, Navaigo shipwreck from birds eye view is extraordinary, really. In fact the entire island of Zakynthos is surrounded by beautiful beaches  and worth every visit if you are heading to Greece.

3.  Snorkel, Sun bathe, or just relax at Tsigrado Beach, Milos

Milos isn’t on everyone’s Greece bucketlist but it should be, real treasures are to be found here as it's home to 72 gorgeous emerald coloured beaches. Spend a week exploring by quad and capture the true beauty to be see here, you'll be happy you did.. I promise.

4.  Discover the incredible Lagoon Balos, Crete

Rated the best beach in Crete... it's breathtaking! Balos is a lagoon formed between an island and the cost line of Crete. The surrounding waters are gorgeous shades of greens and aqua blue. If you visit make sure to walk up the hill and see the panoramic view from the top. #photoshootready

5.  swim in the Pink sand waters of Elafonisi, Crete

A pink sand beach ranked #3 in the world, it makes my list for obvious reasons, duh!! Seeing pictures online does not even do this place justice.. SERIOUSLY UNREAL 😍

6.  Get lost in the Town Square Of Mykonos

It’s like no other village in Greece with endless streets full of pretty shops, churches, restaurants and bars. The square resembles a maze (intended to confuse pirates). Walking between the white walls and blue and red framed doors is like a game, try to remember where you started, it you don't, getting back might be harder than you thought.. trust me on this 😅

7.  SPEND An Afternoon at Red Beach, Santorini

It’s not every day you can lay on a beach built out of Volcanic red rock!  It's a rare sight and probably one of the few beaches like it's kind in the world.

Tip:Bring a solid pair of foot wear, the walk down is a slippery one!

8.  Explore the Islands by ATV

The quickest way to feel like a serious bad-ass on vacation! It’s not everywhere you can venture down the streets on a quad. The charm of getting around an island just became a daring adventure! If you feel safe doing so, you must!

 9.  party till the sunrises In Mykonos

Referred to as the “New Ibiza” by locals, the nightlife in Mykonos is at the top of Europes party destinations. If you are going to Mykonos dress to impress, or don't, but no matter what prepare yourself to party till the sun rises!

10.  devour delicious Greek Food, Crete

The island of Crete is known for having the best cuisine in Greece. There are great Cretan dishes and amazing bakeries everywhere. Hands down home to the best Baklava I've ever had, the same goes for the Calamari, sooooo delish!
