What to Pack in your Carry On vs. Checked Luggage

Let’s talk.. carry on vs. checked bag situations.. shall we?

Deciding between a checked bag or simply a carry on is always a challenge, but sometimes you simply can’t fit everything you need in that one small carry on.

Therefore, you now have the opportunity to choose what is most important to you.

Imagine if your checked bag didn’t make it to your destination; what products would you not spend an overnight without?

When it’s time for you to start packing, ask yourself that question…

I’ve been there… that “one time in Fiji” my luggage didn’t arrive for 5 days!!!

All I had was the clothes on my back and, my wallet…

Here’s the items I recommend carrying on you in case such an unfortunate travel mishaps comes your way.

  • Dry shampoo

  • snacks

  • flip flops (if you’re traveling somewhere tropical)

  • toothpaste/tooth brush

  • face wash, lotion and lip chap.

  • One extra set of clothing (preferably something you wouldn’t mind sleeping in if you had to)

  • You should include your most valuable items (laptop, camera)

  • Any important medication that you take

  • Additional items that would make your travels more comfortable such as Trtl Travel Pillow (honest to god a must have!)

When it comes to packing your checked bag, you have a little more leeway here.

  • This bag should include any liquids over 3.4 oz

  • other nonessential medications, more outfits, clunky shoes, etc.

Everyone’s carry on and checked bag will look different, depending on their needs.

Just remember to ask yourself: what can I not live without?
